GHNI Extends Its Teaching

Ezbit el Amir, Egypt

While following up on the sewing machine project in Ezbit El Amir Village, we found a group of five ladies who have sewing machines. After discovering this, we realised that another organisation gave them the sewing machines without giving them any training on to how to use them. We decided to train them on how to use the machines and they will learn about cutting and tailoring, which will increase their income.

Providing Both Education and Entertainment for the Poor

Upper Egypt Village Cluster, Egypt

In the village of Mezan in Bani Mazar, we have 54 children who meet weekly in order to get education and entertainment. Most of them have very poor families and their education is weak so we offer them moral, psychological, health and social education sessions. Some mums asked to attend classes like their children because they saw the change in the lives of their children. Next week we will start the health classes for women.

TCD Takes Root and Spreads

Upper Egypt Village Cluster, Egypt

This month we held trainings for the committee and new Transformational Community Development (TCD) volunteers in Adendan Village. We spent time planning for the start of the Children Development Programme in the east part of the village. We divided the village into nine areas and discussed Hepatitis C analysis for 2,000 cases in Adendan.

Exploring New Options for Income

Ezbit el Amir, Egypt

We visited some ladies this month and also repaired two sewing machines. We visited Hoda (Om Abanoub), who said that life is getting so hard because her husband must look for a job every day. It is different day by day, and it’s not that much when he does find work. Her son, who is in high school, used to work in a tin factory but it closed down and now he can’t find a job.
