Bringing Wellness to All

In July, we had a medical convoy in the location 15th of May in Helwan Village. We had check-ups for some ladies who had infections in their legs. Four of the ladies had eye infections because of hygiene issues so we also gave them medicine for the infections and some pain killers.

With a big happy smile on his face, a child told us that he wished to swim in the pool and to go to a picnic. Now that wish came true. He thanked us as he was telling us that he will attend our classes regularly and he will bring his friends with him.

I met a mother of a child whose name is John. He is eight years old. I asked her if she had noticed any change in her child and she said, “Yes, he brought me a flower and he told me ‘I love you, mom,’ and then he kissed me.” I asked John why he did this, and he said, “I just learned to thank you, mom, because of your work and love for me.” The mother said that it helped her forget that she is in agony and thanked us for the lessons we present.

Being True to Oneself

We had a lesson on how to choose a sincere and genuine friend. A child shared that one of his friends used to teach him to call people names and to insult others. The boy started to realise that he is different from his friend, both in ethics and behaviour. The friend was always suggesting that he join him in sexually harassing girls after school. At this point, the child realised that the other boy was not actually a friend and that he should stay away from him.

Maryam’s family has been living here since May 2015. She helps her family sort garbage as well as prepare lessons in Youssef’s Centre regularly. She has been complaining that her friends and neighbours are bullying and hitting each other. Maryam is very sad about that. She hopes that her friends will come with her to the centre to learn and change. She said that she will complete her education to help the children learn to be better.
