The Village

Bulesa Dima is a village near the town of Isiolo. The people in Bulesa Dima saw transformation happening in the neighboring village of Gambella and, like many other surrounding villages, asked for our help. We said “yes” to the leaders of Bulesa Dima at the beginning of 2011.

Bulesa Dima is a village of about 1,000 Borana people, mostly doing subsistence farming. With the ever-growing draught in this part of Africa, farming has become increasingly difficult. This has brought the village into a state of severe poverty.

Transformational Community Development©

With our Transformational Community Development program we hope to help Bulesa Dima overcome their severe poverty. Some of the issues the people of this village initially brought to GHNI are:

  • Need for more efficient methods of irrigation and fertilization
  • No electricity -Only enough food to eat one meal per day at best
  • Nearest water had been a cloudy stream about 5km away
  • Infant & maternal mortality was high

GHNI is working alongside this willing community in effort to eradicate these challenges to better living.
