Partnering with Local Resources

House of Esther, Armenia

Spring is nice and warm in many parts of the world and especially at the House of Esther (HoE). A beautifully mellow, green color starts covering the fields and the hills. People, birds, and animals get outdoors to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Spring Activities

House of Esther, Armenia

January, February and March, are easy-going months in Spitak, especially at the House of Esther (HoE). The winter only allows limited activities, such as regular maintenance and keeping warm until the warmer months of spring. Our refugee residents are getting used to the local weather.

Surviving a Meagre Winter

House of Esther, Armenia

It was a mild month of winter at the House of Esther with just a few frosty evenings. The residents kept warm inside and did a few outside tasks on the greenhouse when possible. They prepared the two side ventilation windows, and then will soon work on the side doors of the green house. We need to buy the few metal angles, square pipes, and welding material.

Winter Work

House of Esther, Armenia

Surprisingly, we enjoyed a milder and manageable winter in the House of Esther (HoE). Could this possibly be due to the effect of global warming?

For the house, we secured windows, doors, and roofing to prevent wind and snow damage. The greenhouse was placed on standby, as we were not able to provide the plastic cover yet.

Winterizing the House

In Spitak, November is when the winter sets in. The team has been busy preparing for winter conditions. They disconnected all unneeded faucets, drained water from outside exposed pipes, collected the leaves, covered the base of the fruit trees to protect them from the frost, etc.

In Djorgovska mahala, a group of children and women are slowly influencing their community toward change from unhygienic habits within families and their settlement. At first, just one woman was cleaning the street, and now other women have joined her to regularly clean their streets.
