The Village

Moab is a region of seven villages on the outskirts of the city of Madaba containing about 7,000 people. This is a rural area that has no working hospital and no income-producing business. Many of the younger people are leaving the area in order to find a way out of poverty.

The people of this area are very welcoming and traditional. They live a simple life in the hills supporting olive trees and vineyards. Many of the families are into agriculture and livestock raising. There is a large Palestinian refugee camp in this area as well as populations of Syrians, Iraqis and Gypsies.

Transformational Community Development©

The vision of creating a multipurpose community center in the ancient land of Moab is to provide Transformational Community Development (TCD) training and opportunities for the village cluster. Priorities in the center include training in handicrafts and small-business development for income generation, computer and English education to promote youth literacy, health and wellness lessons, and sports activities to keep youth from drug activities in the area.
