Summer Camps Help Unschooled Children

Recently, we were approached to help start summer camps for kids in different villages. Our team is helping them do schoolwork during the summer vacation. Many kids are not part of the school system just because their parents don’t give proper value to their education. So, we are helping the kids and making parents aware in different villages concerning the importance of education. Ram* said, “I enjoy it that you are coming to play with us, teaching stories to us and providing teaching for us”.
Self-Help groups are motivating and encouraging the communities to become self-sustainable. Ronda* is part of our Self-Help group in her village. Her husband has some health issues and is not able to work. Since we started to work in their village, Ronda is very active and is an initiator for any work. One month ago Ronda took a loan from the Self-Help Group and started a small shop. Ronda said, “We have been asking many people to help us to develop our household income, but their help was temporary. I was worried about my family and husband. First, when I started taking part in the Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons, I learnt that we can do many things by ourselves. I started planting my FAITH (Food Always in the Home) Garden and also became part of the Self-Help Group in my village. I got many ideas and encouragement through this group. Recently, I took out a loan to sustain my family by myself. I can do it myself for my family. This is what I learnt from the team. I am running a shop in my home and meeting my family needs everyday.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update
Water
Currently, we are facing a drought situation in different areas, irrigation is closed and even the cotton crop is destroyed and there is no drinking water in some areas. We have visited a few villages and decided to make water tanks to fulfill the needs of water.
Education
We are conducting summer camps in different villages and encouraging the parents to send their children to school.
Income Generation
We have provided goat loans, and also through the Self-Help Group provided the loans for Income Generation.
