Learning Together

Evelyn, the leader of the women’s group in New Minya, was very shy about giving lessons and speaking in front of people. Attending the first aid conference and participating in the conference’s special groups gave her the confidence to speak publicly, and now she is one of the strongest presenters of the lessons.

A seed project was carried out for the villages of Al Shurafa and New Minya. Workers visited poor families who were suffering from a lack of basic needs such as pasta, noodles, salt, oil, vinegar, tea, sugar, and chicken.

A four-day conference was held for the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group of children in New Minya. They started with the first day of lessons, entitled “You Are Loved.” The second day was “Respect,” and the third day was “Rejection of Negative Speech.” On the last day, they had a good time swimming, playing violin, and sharing with one of the parents that their daughter felt confident in herself, she was loved, and she was beautiful and accepted.

A sports day was held for the children in Shusha Village, and they expressed how happy they were with their participation. They felt the care, respect, and love that they saw in the leaders, and expressed that they felt safe.

A training on servant leadership was conducted for the leaders of the local committees. For two days, more than 50 members were trained on how influential servant leadership is capable of making student leaders. They shared how they were affected by the lectures that touched their lives and addressed issues that they needed to change and develop.

A skills day was held for the TCD group of women in the village of Shusha, and they learnt how to work with Dettol, an antiseptic and antibacterial cleaner. They learnt prevention, hygiene, and how to keep the house smelling fresh.

A medical convoy was held in Saft Al Laban Clinic, and Dr Richard, a visiting doctor from the USA with an orthopaedic specialty, joined them. This convoy served more than 100 people in many villages.

A sports day was held for the TCD group of women in Saft Al Laban, in order to break the usual routine of women at home. They rarely find time to go outside the village to be happy and spend special time for themselves, so this helped them to renew their energy from their fatigue caring for their children and homes.

Kholoud and Rahma are two girls from the TCD group. They live in Bani Mazar, in the Al-Mizan area, one of the most difficult places to live in due to drug addiction and brothels. Their father is an irresponsible person who leaves them living in very painful poverty. Their house is a place that lacks many basic needs, but they are smart, love to learn, and respond to change very quickly. Kholoud explained that when they entered school, they considered the TCD group as their school.

Thank you!
