Examining Your Own Heart
March 30, 2023

We continued to present the Transformational Community Development (TCD) program in order to help ease the causes of violence prevalent in society. Two children, Yona and Jenny, participated in the revision of the anger lesson. Yona shared, “I am intolerant for any reason, and I raise my voice over my sisters and my friend Yona. She came to my class at school in the absence of the teacher, and I fought with her, and we hit each other. I don’t know why I did this to her, and when I participated in the lesson about anger, its causes, and how to control myself, I went and apologized to my friends and asked for reconciliation. I am trying to change, calm down, and not be nervous again. I must overcome anger and nervousness in order to live a good life.”
One of the many lessons offered by the TCD program is a lesson about serving others and doing good for them. It teaches that we, as individuals, must do good for each other and help others without expecting rewards or reactions. We love doing good and meeting the needs of others. Umm Perthania shared, “I felt really good about helping someone who was going through a difficult time. After a while, I went through a difficult time as well, and I was waiting for a good reaction from this person towards me, but this did not happen. I got very upset and quarreled with them because they did not return the favor. After listening to the TCD lesson, I made the decision that when I do good and help others, I will not expect a reward or reaction from them. I understand that someday I will reap the good that I have done, and it is enough that I feel happy, satisfied, and have peace of mind when I help others.”
Thank you,
