Mourning a Son’s Death

We’re still visiting people at homes in the area after the flood that destroyed everything, including homes, clothes, and furniture. Many people died in the flood. The Minister of Social Solidarity suggested a few compensation solutions like giving each family an apartment and a piece of land to work.

Flood Hits Champion Village

Champion Village*, Bangladesh

 

As we know, unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic has affected much of the world and many people have died, including thousands in Bangladesh. To add to the problem, a flood recently hit the village. When our Transformational Community Development (TCD) facilitator Jian** tried to visit the village, he saw that many places were underwater.

Locals in Distributed Masks

This month was very fruitful for us. We completed two water projects: one in Hamadoni and one in the Pyanj area. We distributed about 3,000 masks in and around Murtoch* and in the southern region to a total of 11 villages: 6 in the Murtoch area and 5 in the South area.

Bodaboda Taxi

When Alex fled conflict back home in Gem Village seven years ago, all he had was his family and his children. Now, 34-year-old Alex is the first in his village to own a motorbike.

 

Motorbikes, popularly known as Bodabodas, are a popular means of transportation. They are considered affordable, fast, and provide a source of income to the young men.

Pandemic Radio

During the month of July, I was able to visit some elders individually and discuss the need for initiating a dialogue on intertribal hostilities, natural disasters, and lack of access to economic resources at their level.
