This month, our doctor has received 31 patients; 7 were Syrians, the rest of the patients were Jordanians from the village of Ma'in. Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Jordan, people are being very worried and concerned, trying to be careful. Therefore, fewer people are coming to the clinic, so our team goes once a week to the centre for the time being.

We know the circumstances the Iraqi refugees are going through, and also know that they are not allowed to work. With the COVID-19 crisis, the economic situation has become worse. No home visits or big gatherings are allowed. Nevertheless, our GHNI teams and volunteers were able to reach out to the most vulnerable and needy in different ways.

Girls in this area suffer from neglect and marginalisation, and every day they hear painful words such as: “You are not beautiful, you are stupid, you are hated”.  This makes the girls lose confidence from everyone around them.

In the third quarter of 2020, we opened six training and coaching classes for the Transformational Community Development (TCD) programme. We focussed on the following three topics:

Ahumbe Village, Nigeria

With the ease of the lockdown imposed in several parts of Nigeria, a lot of activities have resumed and a new normal is being embraced. Consequently, the school in Ahumbe Village has resumed and students are back to learn. Our TCD worker took time out to give out facemasks to the students and taught them the proper way to use it. It was an exciting time for all students.

This October, many Transformational Community Development (TCD) activities have been done in the community. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted things, we could still serve the community people by teaching the important lessons of TCD. There are many important things that we have done in the field. We could continue the TCD committee meetings, follow up education classes, kitchen gardening, and cleanliness lessons.
