Tutoring Up and Running Again!

UV Village*, Sri Lanka

We visited the children’s parents’ homes recently to inform them that tutoring classes would resume. We were surprised to see the smiling faces of so many children! We can accommodate all of them, and we informed the teachers to maintain a one-meter distance from each other as requested by the government. The distancing is not a problem, as the veranda is large.

Donating Hand Washing Stations

Ahumbe Village, Nigeria

Anyone can be infected with the coronavirus regardless of class, race, or social status, if they do not observe prevention protocols.

In August, the chief of Ahumbe received handwashing stations and face masks in his palace to further engage the community and instill safe hygiene practises among all. About 24 chiefs were in attendance to receive the items with enthusiasm and with a resolve to do more for the health of the community.

Growing Gardens

RM Village*, Nepal

Though the life of the villagers is being affected by the shutdown in our country and in my village because of the coronavirus, we have been able to carry out some field activities. The community members have started microbusinesses in order to be self-sufficient and people are learning about sanitation and how to stay healthy.

Stressing Healthy Living Amidst the Coronavirus

MH Village*, Myanmar

Myanmar has been encountering the second wave of the coronavirus. The number of positive cases has been soaring daily after almost 100 days without new local transmission. This has caused social concerns, food insecurity, unemployment, and societal problems over again. Schools have been closed again across the country. In addition, a few states and other places have been under lockdown due to the spread of the virus.

Computer Class

After more than four months of being closed, the computer class has reopened this month. We're able to offer health education and safety and hygiene instructions to ensure that the coronavirus does not spread between our students. With that being said, our students had to wear masks and use hand sanitiser while attending the class.

After the COVID-19 lockdown, the mobile clinic recently went back in operation and function. The clinic is implementing the restrictions and following the related instructions, which are required for the safety of everyone. We are restricting the number of patients we are receiving. Each bus is to stay between 11 and 13 patients to keep social distancing guidelines.
