WR Village students are highly engaged. They, along with their teacher, have been busy preparing for the upcoming examination which will be held at year-end.

The students take the examination very seriously. Their marks will determine whether they are promoted. Their teacher informs us that her students' past tests were excellent and is positive that all the children will advance to the next grade.

Galle is experiencing heavy rains; most roads leading to the village were underwater. It was impossible for the children to attend school as the rains were torrential. The government in the Galle district decided to close all schools for three days until the rains subsided and the roads were clear.

Happy Smiling Students

*WR Village, Sri Lanka

After the darkest days in Sri Lanka, the children and parents have overcome the fear that prevails in their village as there is tight security and the children can move freely to schools and come to the tutoring class.

We spoke to the children who told us that their parents do not stop them from coming to the tutoring class but encourage them to go.

We did not hear the usual sounds of children when we arrived at the tutoring class location. It was calm and quite too good to be true. When we got closer, we found the children with test papers in front of them, writing answers to the questions asked.

We spoke to the teacher who informed us that this is the first quarterly test for the year, preparing them for the school quarterly examinations in April.
