Affording Education

Didi Hara Village, Ethiopia

Dibobo is a member of the Income Generation group in Didi Hara Village. Dibobo is a 29-year-old wife and mother of two children. From the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Income Generation group, she received three goats as a start up. Her goats grew in number to 14, so she sold two meal goats two weeks ago and made 3,800 birr (about $140).

Dibobo’s two children attend a school near the village. This September, school will open all over the country, so her children also will start school then. They need school materials and uniforms, so she is going to use her earnings for her children’s educational needs. Before Dibobo joined the TCD group, her income was limited and each September she suffered from being unable to cover her children’s needs. That is all in the past.
