Afghan Locals Applauded International Women’s Day

Women’s Empowerment Centre, Afghanistan

International Women’s day was celebrated in The Women’s Empowerment Centre (WEC1).  Last year, we were not able to celebrate because of the coronavirus. Many people read encouraging articles and shared their talents along with other entertaining activities.

Our government partners also attended this event and spoke about International Women’s Day. The youth union in the village asked us to continue having this celebration each year.

Deeba* is one of the students in our English class. She read an inspiring article at the event. Just like Deeba, many others also read their articles. Additionally, it was the first time that a young boy sang a rap song for the people. Many people clapped and cheered!

TCD Update

  • Education ― Each of the women at the Centre was given a BLiSS (Birth Life-Saving Skills) book. Our health trainer teaches them about BLiSS.
  • Wellness ― Boys and girls are playing football and volleyball in Bamyan central stadium.

We are grateful to you for caring for Afghan women and students!

Thank you!
