Kibera Slum is one of the biggest slums in Kenya. Most of its residents survive on less than one dollar a month. Residents have come from different parts of Kenya. As very few make it a permanent residence, the only business activity that seems to survive are small businesses.

Anna is one of the most outstanding beneficiaries of the Transformational Community Development (TCD) soft loan programme of GHNI. She operates a small kiosk in the middle of the village. She also rents a motorbike to transport milk or even villagers to town and then back to the village.

As part of the focus on family health, a Transformational Community Development (TCD) medical campaign was held in Ezbet El Nakhl. Tests of blood pressure and glucose (fasting and non-fasting) were taken. Sixty people participated. At the end of the day, it was reported that 15 women suffered from high blood pressure and high blood glucose levels.

Skill Sets

Upper Egypt Village Cluster, Egypt

 

Youssef is one of the children in the Al-Kom Al-Ahmar Transformational Community Development (TCD) children’s group. Youssef’s talent was discovered on a Sports Day event as he was playing football with a remarkable high skill. He was honoured by the group leaders and they encouraged him to develop his skills even further and to join a Sports Club.

VIP Latrine in the Works

Douvangar, Cameroon

 

The grain milling machine has been moved to a new site, under recommendation from some of our partners for closer follow-up and better management. Unfortunately, previous management was poorly done. The engine was mounted and will be left on standby before re-use to solidify the casting. The Transformational Community Development (TCD) committee will also be revised.
