Dogon Gada Village, Nigeria

Jonathan is a young, single man from Kogi State who lives and works in Abuja. Sometime in February 2015, he met Martins, GHNI National Field Leader for Nigeria. Jonathan shared with Martins about his need for training and rest. Martins suggested he visited Dogon Gada Village for those purposes.

Dogon Gada Village, Nigeria

The water situation in Dogon Gada Village was yet to be resolved, though the solution was very imminent. For now, the villagers still travel long distances in search of water. Sometimes, they get clean water, other times they do not. The water they get is sometimes muddy and dirty.

Bulesa Dima Village, Kenya

The Bulesa Dima community took on a big challenge for a lifetime opportunity and created the slogan, “There is power in unity.”

Most of these people were unskilled, but they had naturally smart minds, which came up with great ideas for their future. They had strategized a plan for their future by using small resources from every individual. Manpower was their most available resource. Thus, they formed “Power in Unity” in order to bring lasting changes to their village.

Ola Nagele Village, Kenya

Through Transformational Community Development (TCD) training, Micro Entrepreneurship was a major source of transformation for Ola Nagele Village. Due to the group unity and hard work, the change in the village is unbelievable. The women had a pillar for one another.

Attir Village, Kenya

There were showers of blessings on Attir Village concerning water availability. The rains came in plenty, and so water was available. Temporary as it was, it had relieved and saved the villagers from walking long distances in search of water. However, though the rain was a major blessing, it turned sour if it was not properly handled and received.

Garmaam Village, Ethiopia

Abdule and Kedija are couples and live in Garmaam Village. They both work very hard and have four children.

After Abdule and Kedija took Transformational Community Development (TCD) training, they joined in TCD groups to change their life. Previously, Abdule had no work. Sometimes he watched their cattles. Kedija tried to engage herself in small business activities, but those activities could not change her life.

Alishow Village, Ethiopia

Ahemed, Kemal, and Abdulahi lived in Alishow Village. They did not attend school because they had to watch their family’s cattle.

Mudiyambo Village, Ethiopia

Kiya is our Transformational Community Development (TCD) worker of GHNI in the south. He is a hard worker and has spent time coaching Goyo and his wife Kemo in Mudiyambo Village.

Goyo, Kemo, and their children have been working hard to change their lives. The family was very happy to get the knowledge we teach in TCD.

Tuka Village, Ethiopia

Yeshihareg lives in Tuka Village. She is a widow, 39 years old, whose husband died five years ago. They did not have children, so she was hopeless.

Today, Yeshihareg is a leader of the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Women’s Group in Tuka Village. Two years ago, GHNI lent the group 30,000 Birr (about $1,450) for 12 women to start a goat-raising project. They bought 42 goats, and Yeshihareg received three goats.
