Agriculture Back in Swing

Binodpur Village, India

Greetings from Binodpur. We are grateful to GHNI for continually working to bring help and hope to the hidden and hurting in Binodpur and all over the world.

Here in India, August and the beginning of September are the peak times of year for rain. This year we got enough rainwater for agriculture. Now COVID-19 restrictions are easing, which allows us to begin our agricultural duties again. We still have some problems regarding transportation but the government is assuring us that from September onward train service will once again be available.

Due to monsoons and political disturbances, we have been unable to resume building our Transformational Community Development (TCD) centre and tubewell installation. We hope that by the middle of September we might start tubewell installation work. This August our TCD volunteers were going door to door and providing awareness about COVID-19 and diarrhea. Every volunteer did it in his or her local village. There are 6 volunteers and together they covered 300 families. Each of them has built a committee as well. On the 18th and 19th, we had a small meeting for a survey. On the 28th we had a monthly meeting and taught a new TCD lesson on malaria. During September we plan to complete the village survey and introduce the vision of our TCD programme. In Binodpur Village, we are starting a group to help farmers buy seeds.

Thank you,

Bharat
