Centre and Country Face Severe Challenges

Women’s Empowerment Centre–East, Afghanistan

The Women's Empowerment Centre--East was closed for two and half months due to the COVID lockdown. Now with the heightened Taliban threat, it remains closed.

With the imminent withdrawal of foreign troops, the Taliban has been rapidly gaining ground, conquering more than 30 districts in the past few months. Many families from remote, undefended and indefensible rural regions are choosing to flee rather than fight superior Taliban forces.

These families fled with nothing more than the clothes on their back and the few possessions they could carry. Can you help them?

As of this writing, the  Taliban were about to control one of the main districts, which is 10 kilometers away from the Women's Empowerment Centre--East. The government troops and the “people's movement” are pushing back the Taliban and trying to stabilise the security in and around the region.  Many Afghans are in dire need.

Our goal is to help provide short-term food relief to these families by providing food essentials like vegetables and rice, and kitchen kits including various cookware for sanitary eating.  To help families please go to www.globalhopenetwork.org/disaster-relief/afghanistan

Thank you!
