Centre Improves the Health of Villagers

Women’s Empowerment Centre--East, Afghanistan

We recently visited the second Women’s Empowerment Centre (WEC) in the east of Bamyan.  So many students come daily to the centre to learn English. About 90 girls and boys come to four different classes. Additionally, about 35 women are eagerly coming to the centre to learn health lessons and Birth Life Saving Skills (BLiSS), along with other Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons.

Since the WEC East started in Bamyan, the participants have made lots of progress in learning English and hygiene.  Of special note are the health lessons that teach prevention. They have had a great impact on the villagers. Recently, our health trainer visited the local clinic. The doctor said the patients have decreased significantly. He asked our trainer, “What did you do for the villagers? We have so few patients coming to the clinic now?”

Thank you very much for your part in helping. It is our honour to bring help and hope by serving needy villagers.

Thank you!
