A Change in Behaviour

Ezbit el Nakhl Village, Egypt

As we were presenting a lesson from Transformational Community Development (TCD) about first aid, a woman named Lapis*, who has been attending our weekly lessons since we started four years ago, shared that one of her relatives has a wound in her leg. She needs to see the doctor every day to check on it and get some medicines. After listening to our lesson, Lapis decided to help her relative herself and check on her wound regularly. She started to apply what she has been learning in our lesson about first aid and shared it with her relative. After a while her relative got healed. The people started to notice that Lapis was making progress and started to ask her for help. Lapis was so happy with that and she decided to teach everyone about what she had learnt from the first aid lessons.

We prepared a course for the leaders. We have learnt in this course to teach the women to share what they have learnt from us with others. After we presented a lesson to the children about how to get ready for school, we asked them to share the lesson with their friends. After a week, a fifth-grader named Amr* said that he was wasting a lot of time with his friends and wasn’t studying, but that after listening to our lessons, he started to study and to be polite. His family started to notice the change in his behaviour and his grades. He started to share the lessons and the reason for his change with his friends.

Thank you,
