Changing One Life at a Time

*DG Village, Nepal

The situation was miserable during this past quarter. There was huge flooding in the eastern part of Nepal, affecting our village where we are working. Some of our beneficiaries were also affected by the flood. We helped them by teaching lessons on disease prevention for illnesses like jaundice, diarrhea, and dysentery. We taught about clean drinking water, personal health care, and sanitation. They learned about the importance of a clean environment. We coordinated the distribution of some food and zinc-metal roofing sheets to the victims in with the other organizations.

Nine-year-old ** Petrali had bad habits before she came to join our Transformational Community Development (TCD) class and learned many things. She used to pass her time doing nothing around the village and didn't obey her mother. Petrali did as she pleased and left school. After joining our class, she started obeying her parents and has now returned to school. Her mother shared with me how very happy they are with our TCD classes which changed Petrali’s life. TCD changed not only Petrali's life but seemed to influence positive behaviors among the children’s group. When they started attending TCD classes, they learned about sanitation, safe drinking water, personal healthcare, discipline, love for younger ones, and obeying their elders.
