Cultivating Women’s Skills

Women’s Empowerment Centre, Afghanistan

The English students in the Women’s Empowerment Centre 1 (WEC) are daily coming to class and women are faithfully coming to literacy and health lessons as well.  Besides English, health, and literacy, many women have asked for cotton and string so that they can also do embroidery. This is another way they can generate income. They will have a break time when their schools close. Usually, they are closed from the middle of November to April because of the severe cold of winter.

Meanwhile, we faced some challenges in Azhdar, because there are some people who want to bring other NGOs and they have asked us to leave the center. The staff and I had a serious discussion with the Youth Union leader.  There are numerous NGOs in Bamyan and their people are going to bring more development projects. We have already discussed this with our government sector leaders, but the future is still unknown.

Thank you!
