Damsa Teaching Saves Mothers & Babies Lives

Women’s Empowerment Centre, Afghanistan

The Women’s Empowerment Centre (WEC 1) project will end next year. So far, lots of Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons have been taught on sustainability. Recently, a Computer Centre was started, we are asking the women and students to run the Centre when the official partnership ends.

Damsa is a 40-year-old woman and she is eager to teach women everything she learnt within the last two years.  She leads the hygiene class when her trainer is absent.  Damsa has great concern for her people.  It is her desire that the majority of women learn Birth Life Saving Skills (BLiSS), so that no mothers and babies die during pregnancy and birth.

TCD Update

  • Education - Our hygiene trainer started to teach women BLiSS,and  almost 40 women come daily to the WEC1 to learn about health. Presently, 50 teenage students come to learn English language.
  • Wellness - Washing liquids, soaps, notebook, and pens were distributed to almost 90 villagers in this location. It helped those women who were in our health lessons before.

Thank you!
