Dejected to Determined

Didi Hara Village, Ethiopia

Bayese is a widow who lives in Dida Hara Village. Her husband died in a car accident three years ago. She remains to rear her three children and life has been difficult for her. She was struggling to feed her children, let alone afford to send her children to school. When Bayese’s husband died, he left twenty-six cows that were the only source of income for the family’s survival, but she had to sell twenty-one of them. When Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers took a survey, she was dejected and they discussed TCD with her. She became interested in joining the Income Generation Group and received three goats from GHNI-Ethiopia. Their number has grown to nine, and now Bayese can afford to send her children to school.
