Digging Deep

Didi Hara Village, Ethiopia

Every two years, drought plagued the Borena area, forcing the community to move place to place to look for water and pasture land for their animals. Thus, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group is trying to dig water ponds. All these groups understand very well the importance of TCD, so they are sacrificing a lot to earn a good income. The Agriculture Group members have been digging ponds 18 meters (about 60 feet) in depth for water irrigation and drinking water. Since the drought is very severe, some community members have already left the village. We are standing with those who are working to improve their community and quality of life.
