Eating from the Rubbish

Refugees in Lebanon

The time of feasting and celebrations has come where every family is preparing and gift shopping. We are thankful that many around the world are remembering these little angels who were left orphans with no one to care. They are the victims of this painful and broken reality. Sadly, they only learnt the language of war. During a recent trip to Damascus, from where some of these children come from, I could witness how some of them were eating from the rubbish. They were basically sharing the rubbish food they found with the street cats.

Now several of them are refugees in Lebanon. It is the beginning of the winter season and soon they will be celebrating the Eid al-Fitr, also known as‎‎ “festival of breaking of the fast”. They hope to receive a warm sweater, a winter jacket, or even the toy of their dreams.

Thank you,
