Education Promotes Health Among Villagers

Women’s Empowerment Centre--East, Afghanistan

The second Women’s Empowerment Centre in Irak District opened after almost six months of quarantine. When we asked the women if anyone had COVID-19 in the Irak villages, it was good news to hear that no one did.

Many of the women and young students were involved in educating the villagers about avoiding disease. They spread the word that if anyone comes from other provinces, they must isolate themselves for two weeks.

Now we realise how valuable the hygiene and disease prevention lessons are. During the 6-month quarantine, all of the government and private media were instructing everyone to wash their hands for 25 seconds several times a day with soap, along with announcing the importance of wearing a mask.

Thank you!
