During this month we met with 25 individuals, including a mix of Palestinian, Iraqi, and Syrian refugees. The meeting was in an area near to where this group of refugees lives.

Learning Self-Sufficiency in Mawa

Mawa is a cluster consisting of several villages of various sizes. All of the villages have various problems, ranging from income and health to education and access to water. Having successfully completed a project in one village that brought a water source into the community for the first time, the GHNI team looks to build on that momentum.

Farmers’ Work Staves Off Food Shortage

In Didi Hara Village, the Agricultural Committee has been working hard to plant a variety of vegetables. The pandemic did not affect the crops planted, the vegetables, and the drought-resistant fruit trees. Besides the agricultural activity, the Wellness Committee has been teaching the community about coronavirus transmission and prevention.

Rural communities in Côte d’Ivoire are not left out of this belief system as they argue that no one in their communities has the virus. This thinking has made it all the more important to continuously educate rural communities on prevention methods and the truths about the disease.
