A Change in Behaviour

With the start of the new year, we had a celebration for the children and distributed some gifts to them. We have distributed special gifts for those who shared the lessons with their friends. This is what we encourage them to do in our weekly Transformational Community Development (TCD)  lessons.

Classroom Flooring Installation Begins

Attakassikro and Effaoho, Côte d’Ivoire

 

Teti, our Transformational Community Development (TCD) worker, visited Effaoho with his family. After meeting with some of the men in the community, he reported that the flooring installation has begun in the recently built classrooms. The villagers are enthusiastic and looking forward to the classrooms being fully functional.

Mothers and Babies Aided Through BLiSS

Women’s Empowerment Centre, Afghanistan

 

The women are excited about the lesson on Birth Labor and Life-Saving Skills (BliSS). They started these lessons several months ago and are still learning. BliSS books are focussing on maternal and infant health, especially during the time of pregnancy and after birth.

Health Lessons and Booklets Help Villagers

Women’s Empowerment Centre–East, Afghanistan

 

Winter is a good time for the students to come to English class and Health lessons. The students have little free time in the summer because they have school. About 17 new girls have joined our programme this winter. These girls are from the villages around the Women’s Empowerment Centre (WEC). They are eager to learn at the Centre.

Christmas Celebration Leads to Expansion

North Thailand TCD Expansion, Thailand

 

In December, some of the villages of the Baan Pongsa Cluster take time off to celebrate Christmas. Members of our GHNI Southeast Asia team were invited to go up the mountain to celebrate with these community members. Everyone gathered together some money and purchased a few pigs and chickens to eat for a party. Impromptu soccer games and English lessons also sprung up amidst the celebrations.
