Healthy Diet During the Pandemic

Ezbit el Amir Village, Egypt

Because of the coronavirus crisis, we can’t have gatherings with the women, nor can we visit them in their homes. So, we decided to call each woman personally to check on her.

I called on Safiya* to check on her and her children. She told me they’re all doing fine and that she remembers all of the lessons she attended in the centre, like the lesson about the importance of vegetables, especially garlic.

Simple Things Matter

Ezbit el Nakhl Village, Egypt

Jendayi* is the mother of four children. Her husband has heart problems, so she has to work because he is unable. They used to collect and sort garbage, but, because of the pandemic, their work stopped two months ago.

We prepared food boxes for families in desperate need, and we gave her a box. She was very happy, even though it wasn’t a big thing. She said she is grateful for the simple thing.

Thank you,

Helping with Medical Needs in the Pandemic

Upper Egypt Village Cluster, Egypt

We continued providing some grocery bags to the poor who have lost their jobs. Last week we learnt from a committee in Taha Village about a widow whose daughter is suffering from cancer. The hospital did not admit her due to the coronavirus. It's a very bad situation and difficult emotionally for this family. We visited this woman, provided food, and arranged for a doctor to provide medical assistance.

Lessons About Floods

Helwan Village, Egypt

Because of the flood that destroyed the area and the pandemic, we decided to visit each woman in her home while taking all the necessary precautions, since we can’t have weekly gatherings.

When we visited Lapis*, she told us what happened to her during the flood. She said, "The weather that day was very bad and the rain was heavy. Then in the afternoon, we heard people screaming that the flood was coming. "

Recovering from a Flood

Helwan Village, Egypt

This past month, although we struggled with the COVID-19 crisis in Egypt, we still managed to give several awareness lessons about how to protect from the virus. This was through face-to-face meetings at homes as well as through phone calls to some people.

Communicating with Adolescents

Ezbit el Amir Village, Egypt

From the lessons provided in Ezbet El Amir Village about adolescence and how to overcome this difficult stage in dealing with children, there must be a conversation so that we listen to each other without reacting angrily.
