Expanding Proven Success

Harowayo Village, Ethiopia

In Harowayo Village, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) groups have been working hard. A few months ago, the government agriculture office visited our irrigation project. They were amazed by our TCD work and were not expecting what we’ve accomplished.

During this time, the groups produced different kinds of vegetables, such as cabbages, carrots, onions, potatoes, and others. They can generate 25,000 Birr (about $1,000) from their harvest. During the government visit, the representatives promised to supply different kinds of materials and pest protection. In addition, they encouraged us to work hard and said they would help us in all aspects.

We are developing the TCD groups by providing training and other necessary support. Our next plans include the government’s offer to provide three hectares of land so we can establish more TCD groups and develop this land to prosper the community.
