First Well to Get an Electric Motor!

BT Village*, Nepal

The first installation of an electric motor in a well is a success. This motor is producing water sufficient for 30 households and the well’s management committee has taken full responsibility for it. Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons on water have been a great help for the villagers and the availability of running water has brought great excitement. People are using it for drinking and irrigation. Lal B.K. of the committee said that this year they expect a good harvest of wheat, as they have water to irrigate their field.

After the rice harvesting season is done, the water committee will be discussing ways to complete a third well in due time.

People in KT Village* have a strong desire to work with GHNI, as they expressed afer GHNI’s visit last month. We desperately need funding and help to start TCD in KT Village*. They already have committees and want to focus on education. They are extremely poor with no electricity and great sanitation needs.

We had a great time in the field where we are working this month as we planned to finish our well digging project. I visited the Rampur village where we got a warm welcome and discussed how we could help with school and village development.

Your support makes a great impact on these people with great needs. Thank you!
