Food Relief for Seventy Families

Northern Thailand TCD Expansion

This quarter, COVID-19 restrictions have prevented our team from visiting communities for development work. The government is easing measures now, and our team is developing plans with our local partners to resume community visits and training this month.

During these “idle” months, our team has focussed on preparing for the day when village visits are possible again. Curriculum translation, legal registration in the country, forward planning and some focussed relief efforts when allowed. In June, our team was able to help provide immediate food relief for an urban community on severe lock-down due to COVID-19 cases spreading within their area.  Many people in Thailand depend upon daily wages for food and other basic needs, and the members of this community were suffering because they were unable to work for an entire month. In partnership with two other groups, we were able to provide about 10 pounds of food for 70 of the most vulnerable families–enough to help them get by for the remaining week of their isolation.

Transformational Community Development (TCD) Update

  • Food  – We provided COVID-19 relief to 70 families in one community.

  • Income Generation – One community we have partnered with has improved their village road and is making plans to start planting avocado trees next season. Families who wish to join must save 3 USD per month so they can buy the seedlings in bulk next May.

Thank you!
