Goat Multiplication

Didi Hara Village, Ethiopia

Churu is 29-years-old and living in Dida Hara Village. She is married and has two children. Since she got married, all the burden of the family fell on her shoulders. Even before she married, she was the one who worked for everything in her family.

Early in the morning, she was going to the pond to get water for cooking and drinking. After she brought that back, she had another assignment making breakfast for the family. She was busy the whole day. Life was difficult for her. After she was selected to be one of the Transformational Community Development (TCD) group members, she got a loan from the goat loan program. For the first loan, she got three goats. In the first year, she got six baby goats as each of the loaned three gave birth to two kids. In the second year, she got the same growth as the first year. Now her goats total 18 within 2 years. When the goats are grown, she is planning to sell some of the goats and start a business in her village.
