Growing Gardens

RM Village*, Nepal

Though the life of the villagers is being affected by the shutdown in our country and in my village because of the coronavirus, we have been able to carry out some field activities. The community members have started microbusinesses in order to be self-sufficient and people are learning about sanitation and how to stay healthy.

Teaching About the Kitchen Gardening

This month we started teaching villagers about home gardening. We distributed some mustard seeds to begin with and the villagers have started growing them. If the villagers are successful with these gardens, they will not have to buy their vegetables as often and can be on the way to self-sufficiency.

Coronavirus Education

We are still encouraging people to use preventive measures to protect themselves from the coronavirus. There have been eight positive cases so some villagers are worried, but we have stressed the importance of washing hands, wearing masks, using sanitiser, and avoiding close contact when possible.

Thank you!
