Growing Ready to Multiply

*Valley of Ali, Afghanistan

The people of the Valley of Ali want to have enough water so that they can plant more trees on their lands. If they grow enough poplars, they can use the branches of the trees for burning, making the house warm, and also for cooking food.

The goal of planting trees in this area is to make income for the farmers. Many farmers, who have received the poplar cuttings, also learned the knowledge and education of how they should plant trees in good soil and how to irrigate regularly. People enjoy this kind of poplar tree in their village. Eventually they can use it for building houses.

It is winter here and we are taking care of the trees, so that in spring we can distribute more cuttings to the people of Yakawlang. We hope can get our cuttings from those farmers that started two years ago. When we get back, the cuttings from them will be given to other farmers.
