Goats - A Source of Income

Goat Loan Programme, Jordan

In AM village, Omar* visited Zaid*. Zaid is a young man who has lost his job during the COVID-19 crisis. The village committee has introduced him to us. Recently, Zaid received six goats from GHNI Jordan.

Zaid is very happy to start this project as it will be his only source to generate income. He is excited to increase the number of goats to increase the production which will give an increased income.

Thank you,

Sami* is from Basra, Iraq. He worked as an office man in an engineer's office. He is married and has two daughters and one son who has Down’s Syndrome. Sami had to leave Iraq because of one of his daughters who was 11 years old and in the 5th grade was threatened. One of her classmates accused her of insulting their teacher. It was sad and scary to see the hatred demonstrated at this young age.

Happy To Be Self Sustaining

A field visit was made to the project in this village, and we found that the woman in the family was infected with COVID-19. While she was under home quarantine, her husband took the goats to an open area and built a small tent in order to take care of the goats away from his home.
