Learning and Loving a New Occupation

Didi Hara Village, Ethiopia

We’d like to introduce Dido, a 43-year-old man living in Dida Hara Village. Before he joined our Transformational Community Development (TCD) group, he had basically nothing. He was tending animals owned by another man. He was earning a small amount of money, just enough to survive.

When GHNI-Ethiopia entered this village, Dido was recruited by the village elders and leaders. He was not happy to leave his previous work because he did not have knowledge about farming. This was a new experience for him. After he joined the group, he became happy and started loving his work. Dido now earns more money than he did from his previous work that he loved very much.

Now Dido is constructing a two-room house and also a toilet in his compound. Additionally, he can send his two children to school. His wife also works with him and their income has increased. She also took our TCD training and has learned to make her kitchen clean. She washes her dishes and keeps the kitchen supplies clean.
