Learning Boundaries

Ezbit el Nakhl Village, Egypt

Children of Ezbit el Nakhl

"I never knew that I have rights."

At the end of the lesson about children’s rights, *Akila said that she never knew that she has rights and that she should ask for them especially in Ezbet El Nakhl, because they don’t treat girls the same way they treat boys.

She learnt that she’s free to state her opinion and to stop any bad treatment towards her. She also learnt that it’s her right to go to school, have clothes and to be praised for her success. She was very happy with the lesson.

*Berenike shared with us that she told her parents about the lesson and showed them her drawing and said that she loves her life, and that she has the right to learn, play, get treatment when she is sick and be safe from boys that harass her in the streets.

She said that she’s never going to stay silent when something against her rights happens.

Bullying is not just among children but also within people from all age ranges.

*Om Jendayi, who is 50 years old, came to us emotionally hurt by the people that bullied her like her husband and family who always embarrassed and humiliated her in front of others.

This caused her to be hurt, but after listening to the lesson, she started to confront them and stop them from hurting her anymore. This lesson really changed her life and her personality for the better.

Thank you!
