Learning to Build a Future

Dhoker Jhara Village, India

This past month, I taught villagers about the value of education and gave them ideas about how they can manage their finances to provide their children a good education. Since saving money for a future need is rare in our culture and they are very bad in saving, I encouraged them to do animal husbandry instead of saving money for their children’s education. It would be more fruitful for them, as they will learn to preserve things for future use, and since animals will keep growing in numbers, they will get long term profit from it. We have drawn out the possible profit income of breeding chickens, pigs, and goats, and also drew out the detailed expenses and income during this process for two years. Some of the villagers are already doing this, so it was encouraging for them to act on this idea.
