Learning During a Pandemic

KW Village*, Nepal

The coronavirus has made teaching more difficult but we are continuing to carry on. The women of KW Village have a desire to learn to read and write, so I have tried to instruct them. Sometimes we visited children and taught about the importance of education. We taught health education and how they can help their parents. We encouraged people to get involved in income generation and earn some money which is helpful at this time. People are hardworking but they don't have resources, so it has been helpful to receive seed money from GHNI.

We are also teaching people about proper diets and using clean water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking. Many of the villagers are starting to grow their own vegetables in their garden, so this is good news. Lastly, I  have taught people to be safe from the virus by wearing a mask when outside, properly washing hands, and using sanitiser when necessary.

TCD Update

  • Food - Villagers are encouraged to have their own kitchen garden for good food, balanced diet, and nutrition.
  • Income Generation – Some families started micro-shops, animal keeping, a chicken farm, and keeping ducks.
  • Education - We encourage parents to instruct their students at home during the coronavirus lockdown.
  • Wellness - Focussing on sanitation and health education.

Thank you!
