The Making of a Model Village

*JT Village, Nepal

In this quarter, we followed up by coaching the school committee about Transformational Community Development (TCD). We have been able to make a good impact on the community through school in this village. We provided goat loans and small loans to the parents of school children who were recommended by the school. They can make a good income raising goats, which will be very helpful for their children’s education and family expenses. Teachers and parents now have a better relationship. The teachers’ behaviour has also changed, as they told us in the meeting. Every house has its own toilet. Every boy and girl is going to the school, said the teachers. It has had a positive impact on the community, making it a great model village.

TCD Update

  • Water – Teaching the children about safe drinking water helped them a lot. The children are healthy and smart.
  • Food – Farmers have started growing healthy food. They are more aware that using chemical fertilisers is bad for their health.
  • Income Generation – A sewing programme, a micro loan, vegetable farming, and goat raising were helpful. Farmers could earn more than ever before.
  • Education – We continued teaching the children, which has impacted their behaviour and family environment. The teachers are helpful and very friendly.
  • Wellness – Personal health, family health and sanitation, and community health awareness has increased.

Thank you!
