Many Bennefit From Skills Learnt at WEC2

Women’s Empowerment Centre EAST, Afghanistan

The Women’s Empowerment Centre--East (WEC2) project started a few months ago in Bamyan East. The majority of the people who live there are Ismailis.  We planned to bring help and hope to this remote village. First, we started with health and Transformational Community Development (TCD) lessons. About 40 women are coming to the center to learn about Health & Hygiene and Income Generation.

Meanwhile, 32 girls are involved in the English class. They come to learn English after school. Because of the harsh winter, schools are closed for more than three months. After the schools closed two months ago, the boys became interested to come and learn English. The number of students has now doubled because more than 30 boys joined the English class!

There were never opportunities for people to learn English or about hygiene in this valley before. The people are interested to come to the centre every day.  We hope during the time we are working there more people can learn about Hygiene, English, and other skills to improve their lives.

Thank you!
