Maximizing Local Resources

Shambani Village, Kenya

This is Lucas who lives by the riverside in Shambani Village. He was issued seeds by GHNI this past quarter, and his family and lifestyle have been transformed. Through creating his own farm, Lucas has been able to care for his children’s education and create other side projects from it, like raising chicken. Lucas sends his deep appreciation for GHNI’s efforts in transforming the community through capacity building.

We also took some people on an “agriculture learning tour,” where they learned how to locally make their own manure and germinate their own seedlings—using fruit that’s been consumed and thrown into the streets in town. This is truly making use of local resources!
