Meeting Many Needs for Women

Women’s Empowerment Centre--East, Afghanistan

This year, the Second Women’s Empowerment Center (WEC) was inaugurated  in Eraq Shiber District through representatives of GHNI, the Directory of Women, the Directory of Labour, Shiber District, and the head of Eraq Shuras.

The English course for the girls, and health lesson for the local women are going well. We distributed about 70  packages of pens and pencils for those attending health lessons and English classes.

The local women who are coming to the hygiene lessons have asked for a tailoring class or other training to help them generate income. This is being considered.

The women started volleyball and football teams. They exercise so that they can compete with other teams. Teamwork and fresh air are a good combination for them!

Soon, the school will close for the winter, which in Afghanistan is mid-November through April.

Thank you!
