Vocational Training Programme, Jordan

We are still working with Rana, the lady from Syria, in our Vocational Training Programme. We have ordered 50 pickle jars recently to distribute to the refugees during the home visits. It’s a win-win situation because Rana will generate income and the refugees we visit will enjoy her yummy pickles.

Also, we ordered some Armenian pickles and sausage from Jerayer.

Clinic

Dr Fadi has seen about 156 patients, most of them were Jordanian from Ma’ain village, as well as a mix of Syrian and Iraqi patients. Lately, the number of patients has increased, and most of the conditions were general. Only a few patients had chronic diseases like high blood pressure or diabetes mellitus.

Mobile Clinic

Besides providing the needed medication and treatments, we also handed out winter packages and clothing to the Syrian patients we have received in our mobile clinic this month. The patients were so happy and thankful.

We handed out blankets to the Syrian refugees who came to the new clinic, as well as some packs of rice and lentils. The patients had no idea that they would be receiving anything. They went there to get medical treatment, but after everyone was done being checked by the doctor, we started to call their names (as in their UNHCR papers) and gave each family two blankets and food packets.

It's no secret that there is a global disparity between opportunities for women and men. Women in developing nations, or in areas of extreme poverty, are particularly vulnerable to the gender gap. 

This Friday is International Women's Day, and the theme this year is "Balance for Better." The statistics below illustrate the imbalance we see in some countries today. But at GHNI, we're hopeful that someday soon, we'll see a balance for women and men in opportunity, education, income, and security. 

Goat Loan Program, Jordan

In December, the goat-hosting families are preparing for the winter and covering the goats’ houses to protect them from the rain and the cold weather. Meanwhile, they also will take the goats to have their vaccinations.
