Insurmountable Task Completed through Working Together

*BT Village, Nepal

We had a field visit to BT Village, where we’ve started Transformational Community Development, and worked on wells. People told us they couldn’t complete the work because of the rainy season. When the dry season comes, they start work.

One of the wells was open and seemed very dangerous. It was deep and collapsed because it was hand dug and the technician was scared to go inside to finish it.

Preventing Slavery at the Source

GHNI-Nepal completed a three-day training session on Slavery Prevention and Community Health Education, in September in Dhangadhi, far western Nepal.

Empowering Girls

Protecting the young and vulnerable is an issue that knows no cultural boundaries. All over the world, even in the most developed countries, sex and labor trafficking demeans and endangers–sometimes even kills–hundreds of thousands. Our team in BT Village*, Nepal, is teaching girls to be on their guard through a brief but vital series of questions through Transformational Community Development (TCD).

Well Ends More than Thirst

BT Village, Nepal

Do you have a daughter? A mother? A sister? A wife? A close female friend? I imagine everyone can answer “yes” to at least one of those questions. The people of *BT Village, Nepal can also answer, “yes…” or maybe the answer is, “I used to.”

Progress Elicits Smiles

After digging a well in their village for drinking, cooking, and washing, these Nepalese villagers are now looking forward to irrigating their crops. David, a GHNI leader, shares about the trials and triumphs of this project.

Ending Poverty One Villager at a Time

No matter where you live, poverty exists.  What we see on our national news, it is just the glimpse of the extreme poverty in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.  Much of the world’s poverty is hidden, covered or ignored in our modern existence.  It is too much for us to bear!

GHNI workers cannot turn away from the realities. Our field workers walk daily alongside hidden and hurting communities. They watch as villages transform before their eyes.  There is a solution to poverty and it lies within villagers; it lies within those currently living in poverty.

Slavery Prevention Class

As lessons begin in BT Village and the community embraces the challenge of becoming self-sustainable through GHNI’s Transformational Community Development (TCD), women gather for lessons on how to avoid getting trapped into slavery. Here’s an encouraging update from Nepal’s Slavery Prevention Trainer:

Unity Through Village Projects

Nepal’s National Leader shares an inspiring story of how the community of BT Village came together in the beginning stages of Transformational Community Development. Thanks to Bijay’s initiative, the villagers will continue to unite.
