New Healthy Habits

*DG Village, Nepal

This month, we covered the lessons on healthcare and safer drinking water, and for children, we focused on a handwashing program, brushing teeth, respecting elders, and loving those younger. Most of the women in the class can now read and recognize letters. When we started our Transformational Community Development (TCD) class in DG Village with a children’s group, they were not very happy. Then, after they started learning things like handwashing, drinking safe water, and how to brush their teeth, they became happy. Before our TCD class, they were not aware of personal healthcare and waterborne diseases. Both parents and children in this village are happy with their new healthy habits.

**Maliha is an uneducated lady in this village. Now 35 years old, she has four children. She welcomed me into her home. I shared with her how TCD may help her and the importance of education and personal healthcare. Maliha did not even know how to write her name, but she has learned how and is very happy and interested in learning more from TCD.  Maliha said, “Come again and teach me more.”
