Poplar Tree Program Continues to Expand

*Valley of Ali, Afghanistan

People in the Valley of Ali planted hybrid Poplar trees to provide income for themselves. Many farmers have been trained how to grow Poplars in their fields. More than 9,400 Poplar cuttings have been distributed to farmers in the Yakawlang district. These cuttings were given as a loan, and next year, the farmers will repay us with the same number of cuttings. Their new cuttings, in addition to the cuttings we will produce, will be loaned to additional farmers next year. This Poplar tree cutting loan program will continue to expand each year.
