Gem Village, Kenya
Social dependency in Gem Village is improving, day-by-day. Transformational Community Development (TCD) is really changing things at a high rate. Before that, we were facing idleness, robbery, and even killing due to life’s hardships. Through TCD, the villagers were taught and guided how to fish for themselves, rather than to expect mere donations. Transformation was definite. Some were introduced to buying and selling charcoal, some to goat/sheep businesses, and others ventured into small retail shops.
After water was drilled in Gem, the villagers started becoming farmers. Some planted cash crops like onions, tomatoes, and sukuma wiki. Others planted food crops like maize and beans.
One villager, Lokitari, says this has helped him a lot. Lokitari has invested in his farm for two seasons. He is able to save for his grainary and sell some to cater to his family’s needs. Lokitari is thankful for TCD and the transformation they are experiencing.
Thank you!
